SUNY Potsdam's Department of Business Administration recently hosted its 61st Business Plan Competition, which challenges students to develop an entrepreneurial business plan fulfilling the need of a specific group of consumers.

SUNY Potsdam recently named five motivated and talented students to its Presidential Scholars Program, which provides funding and recognition for students to create their own independent project and to more fully develop their interests and intellect, while working with faculty mentors.

SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music is preparing to host the world premiere of a groundbreaking new opera, "Computing Venus," by composer Timothy C. Takach and librettist Caitlin Vincent. The Crane Opera Ensemble and Orchestra will unveil its full production of the Pellicciotti Prize-winning work in a series of performances from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3.

141 SUNY Potsdam student-athletes, including 14 two-sport athletes, have earned a spot on the State University of New York Athletic Conference's Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. The honor roll recognizes athletes with a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average for the entire 2023-24 academic year.

The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 177 students who excelled academically in the Spring 2024 semester to the College's Dean's List.

This scholarship recipient is selected by the chair of the Department of Art. Recipients must be a declared art studio or art history major who have completed at least one year of study and are in good academic standing, who exhibit passion and commitment for the field.

The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 727 students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Spring 2024 semester. The SUNY Potsdam students were honored for earning top marks by President Dr. Suzanne Smith.

This award is presented to art history majors or minors, who are traveling to further their education and to advance their knowledge of art history. The award will be based on merit as determined by the faculty, in consultation with the department chair or designee.

This award is presented to the senior Spanish major(s) with the highest grade point average.

This honor is awarded to the senior French major with highest grade point average.

The recipient(s) of this scholarship are selected annually by the SUNY Potsdam Scholarship Coordinator and the faculty of the SUNY Potsdam Department of Philosophy. Recipients must be full-time undergraduates in good academic standing, who are entering the junior or senior year of study with a declared major in and a demonstrated passion for the study of philosophy.

The Women's and Gender Studies Junior Scholar Award, initiated in 1994 to celebrate women's and gender studies student excellence, is presented annually to a junior women's and gender studies major or minor who most clearly exhibits academic excellence both in women's and gender studies courses and in overall academic pursuits.

SUNY Potsdam recently honored 14 students for excellence, with awards from the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Faculty in SUNY Potsdam's Department of Art selected outstanding students as First-Year Scholars.

This scholarship is awarded to outstanding junior history majors based on the students' overall GPA, their GPA in history, and the department's knowledge of the student. The scholarship was established by the wife of the former priest of Potsdam's Trinity Episcopal Church and mayor of Potsdam.

This award is presented annually to the student who demonstrates the greatest achievement and promise in creative writing.

This is an award to recognize an outstanding paper submitted in a departmental seminar, and it commemorates the former chair of the Social Studies Department, who served from 1941 to 1964.

Ten SUNY Potsdam students recently completed the Women, Gender and Leadership specialty badge through the College's Summit Leadership Program.

The State University of New York at Potsdam will recognize the Class of 2024 during the College's 204th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 18.

The Erin O'Brien Women's and Gender Studies Activism Award is presented to a women's and gender studies student who most clearly exhibits both academic excellence and commitment to feminist activism.

The Women's and Gender Studies Senior Scholar Award, initiated in 1994 to celebrate women's and gender studies student excellence, is presented annually to a graduating senior women's and gender studies major or minor at SUNY Potsdam who most clearly exhibits academic excellence both in the field's coursework and in their overall academic pursuits.

The K. Dunkley Award for Performance and Creative Excellence in Dance is awarded to a dance major or minor who has demonstrated consistent growth and outstanding achievement in scholarship, creative activity and taken leadership and initiative in collaborative performance groups.

This award is established in memory of Dr. Susan Mallon Ross, a professor at SUNY Potsdam from 1996 to 2004. The award is given to a senior for outstanding scholarship in mass communication.

The Elsie D. Kristiansen Public Speaking Award is presented to a communication student for the best public speaking presentation in a communication class.

This funding may be presented to a deserving student, or used for faculty development priorities, or acquisition of materials for faculty or student use, or technology or any need determined by the Department of Modern Languages as deemed appropriate for the growth and success of the program and the individual faculty and students working within it.

The Signum Laudis Award for Excellence in Classical Studies is presented to a junior or senior student who best exemplifies the intellectual and interdisciplinary ideals of classical studies.
