Area Students Earn Master's Degrees from SUNY Potsdam

The State University of New York at Potsdam recently conferred more than 180 master's degrees in the College's Master's Commencement Ceremony, held at The Crane School of Music. SUNY Potsdam awarded Master of Arts, Master of Music, Master of Science in Education and Master of Teaching degrees in a variety of fields, presenting graduates with academic hoods denoting the honor, on May 21. Area Students Graduate from SUNY Potsdam

The State University of New York at Potsdam recently conferred more than 650 bachelor's degrees at the College's annual Commencement ceremony, on May 22. SUNY Potsdam awarded students with Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Science degrees in a variety of fields, in a sunny ceremony held in the Academic Quad. Local SUNY Potsdam student-athletes earn SUNYAC Spring Commissioner's List accolades

A number of local student-athletes attending the State University of New York at Potsdam have been named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference Spring 2011 Commissioner's List. The SUNYAC announced the list on Thursday. The following area student-athletes have met the minimum criteria for inclusion on the list by maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 over three semesters at Potsdam and completing the entire 2011 spring season as a varsity athlete:

Local SUNY Potsdam Students Visit Galapagos & Amazon Rainforest in Winterim Trip

When packing for one of the many Winterim courses offered through The State University of New York at Potsdam each year, most students would gather items necessary for surviving the bitter cold of a Potsdam winter -- snow boots, parka, mittens and a sturdy hat. However, students participating in the new international travel course, "Voyage to the Galapagos and Amazon Rainforests," required a slightly different packing list. Along with the parka, students also packed hiking boots, swim trunks, shorts, sandals and a snorkel for the two-week journey to the Galapagos Islands. This past Winterim, 11 students and seven faculty members and chaperones traveled to the Galapagos Islands and Amazon rainforest in an interdisciplinary course over the College's winter break. Original Works by Area Crane School of Music Students to be Featured in Concert

Five Crane School of Music students will present original works in a Student Composer Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15 in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall on the SUNY Potsdam campus. The concert will consist of a short program of solo and chamber music for a variety of instruments composed by the students. Each student comes from a different area and has a different musical expertise. They include:

State University of New York at Potsdam Student Canoe Racing Team Wins NY Championship

The student intramural canoe racing team at the State University of New York at Potsdam recently paddled its way to victory in the Long Lake Long Boat Regatta's New York State Collegiate C-4 championships. The 10-mile race was held in Long Lake, N.Y., and the SUNY Potsdam team completed it with a winning time of one hour, 33 minutes and 22 seconds. The winning team included:
