Students at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will premiere the three winning operatic works of the Domenic J. Pellicciotti Opera Composition Prize next week. The student cast and crew will be able to meet the composers and librettists of the three winning works, "A Letter to East 11th Street," "In a Mirror, Darkly," and "The Fox and the Pomegranate." Performances are from Nov. 13 to Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at The Crane School of Music.

Four SUNY Potsdam students completed the first-ever "Living the Map" internship program, which gave them the chance to intern with five organizations in five weeks in five locations this summer.

Sixty-seven SUNY Potsdam students completed internship placements at companies, non-profits or campus departments this summer. Each student intern has a faculty sponsor, and earns between 1 and 12 credits toward their degree requirements.

Abigail Spillane, a SUNY Potsdam graduate student who is studying toward her Master of Science in Teaching degree in childhood education, is the recipient of the 2014 Stephen K. Tompsett Memorial Scholarship. The Stephen K. Tompsett Memorial Fund for Technology in Education ("Stephen's Fund") was created in honor and memory of Stephen Kevin Tompsett, who was killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will present a concert featuring the Crane Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall. The Crane Opera Ensemble will present a pair of "angelic" one-act operas this spring, with performances on Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M. The award-winning Crane Opera Ensemble will perform the tragic yet lyric "Suor Angelica," with music by Giacomo Puccini, followed by the satirical and off-beat "Angelique" by Jacques Ibert.
