Crane School of Music Students Perform for Guitar Symposium in NYC

Two Crane School of Music students were invited to perform at the Guitar Foundation of America Regional Symposium in New York City on Oct. 25. SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music was one of only four music schools from New York State to be invited to perform at the College Guitar Ensemble Showcase at the symposium, which was hosted by the New York City Classical Guitar Society.

SUNY Potsdam Inducts Greek Students into Order of Omega

Ten accomplished SUNY Potsdam fraternity and sorority members were inducted into the Chi Psi chapter of the Order of Omega National Honor Society on Oct. 26. The Order of Omega is the national leadership honor society for members of Greek organizations, recognizing men and women who set a higher standard for Greek Life.

Crane School of Music Students to Premiere Three New Operatic Works

Students at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will premiere the three winning operatic works of the Domenic J. Pellicciotti Opera Composition Prize next week. The student cast and crew will be able to meet the composers and librettists of the three winning works, "A Letter to East 11th Street," "In a Mirror, Darkly," and "The Fox and the Pomegranate." Performances are from Nov. 13 to Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at The Crane School of Music.

Sixty-seven SUNY Potsdam students completed internship placements at companies, non-profits or campus departments this summer. SUNY Potsdam's internship program places students with employers whose interests align with their studies. Each student intern has a faculty sponsor, and earns between 1 and 12 credits toward their degree requirements.

SUNY Potsdam's Department of Theatre and Dance is set to debut a production of Yussef El Guindi's post-9/11 play, "Back of the Throat," at the College's new Performing Arts Center. The show will open Oct. 23 and close Nov. 2.

Local SUNY Potsdam athletes earn SUNYAC Spring Commissioner's List accolades

The following local residents were among the 39 SUNY Potsdam student-athletes to earn a spot on the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Commissioner's List for the Spring 2014 semester, the conference announced Tuesday, July 29. Players named to the commissioner's list have a minimum 3.3 GPA based on three semesters at Potsdam.

Abigail Spillane, a SUNY Potsdam graduate student who is studying toward her Master of Science in Teaching degree in childhood education, is the recipient of the 2014 Stephen K. Tompsett Memorial Scholarship. The Stephen K. Tompsett Memorial Fund for Technology in Education ("Stephen's Fund") was created in honor and memory of Stephen Kevin Tompsett, who was killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
