Potsdam, NY (11/02/2018) — The State University of New York at Potsdam will welcome SUNY Chancellor Dr. Kristina M. Johnson, in her first visit to the campus since her appointment and inauguration to lead the 64-campus system, on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Chancellor Johnson is set to meet with SUNY Potsdam leadership before embarking on a campus tour on Tuesday morning. There will be a media availability during the tour at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

She is set to meet with faculty and students, as she visits SUNY Potsdam's Center for Applied Learning, the Wagner Institute for Sustainability and Environmental Research, The Crane School of Music and the Performing Arts Center.

SUNY Potsdam President Dr. Kristin G. Esterberg, Faculty Senate Chair Kimberley Bouchard and Student Government Association President Kadiatou Balde '19 will lead the tour.

At the end of her tour, Dr. Johnson will meet with the directors and cast of the new opera, "Mayo," by Tom Cipullo, as well as the donor whose gift made the production possible, Dr. Gary C. Jaquay '67. The Crane Opera Ensemble is set to debut the world premiere of the Pellicciotti Prize-winning opera from Nov. 8 to 11.

Dr. Johnson will meet with Crane School of Music students and faculty, as well as Broadway and opera star Lisa Vroman '79, who has returned to her alma mater to play the role of Miss Goodrich in "Mayo." The cast members will preview a scene from the opera at 11:30 a.m., in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.

This event is open to the media, and the Chancellor will be available to speak with reporters following the brief performance in Snell Theater.
