Crane Opera Ensemble and Orchestra to Present Comic Double Bill

The award-winning Crane Opera Ensemble and Orchestra at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music is set to present an uproarious double-bill, bringing together Giacomo Puccini's comic opera in one act, "Gianni Schicchi," combined with the modern sequel, "Buoso's Ghost," by contemporary composer Michael Ching, from Nov. 16 to 18.

Star Students Featured in Crane School of Music Honors Recital

SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will highlight the talent and artistry of its top students in the annual Student Honors Recital, on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m., in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater. This special concert will feature students selected by professors to represent their respective performance areas, including brass, guitar/harp, percussion, piano, strings, woodwinds and voice.

Crane School of Music Students to Perform in Carnegie Hall on May 8

Nearly 300 students from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam will make their collective Carnegie Hall debut in a performance honoring the College's bicentennial on Mother's Day. Maestro Duain Wolfe will conduct the Crane Chorus and Crane Symphony Orchestra in a celebratory concert befitting the College's 200th anniversary, featuring guest artists, epic works and a world premiere. This concert will be offered on Sunday, May 8 at 8:30 p.m., in the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.

SUNY Potsdam's Department of Theatre and Dance is set to debut the premiere production in the Proscenium Theater at the College's new Performing Arts Center. William Shakespeare's comedy "Twelfth Night" will feature a cast of talented students. The show will open April 3 and close April 13.

The Department of Theatre and Dance at SUNY Potsdam will present performances of original dance works by student choreographers from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8 on campus. Fourteen SUNY Potsdam students who are majoring or minoring in dance have created 20 dance works for the concert, which is entitled "Kaleidoscopic."

SUNY Potsdam Students Take Center Stage in 'Ragtime' Musical

SUNY Potsdam has announced the student cast and crew for the Tony-winning musical "Ragtime," showing at the College from Nov. 14 to 17. A collaboration between faculty, staff and students from both The Crane School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance, the show features the award-winning Crane Opera Ensemble and Orchestra. There will be performances of "Ragtime" at 7:30 p.m. from Nov. 14 to Nov. 16, with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Nov. 17. For more information, see www.potsdam.edu/arts.

SUNY Potsdam Theatre & Dance Students Present 'Bent' Play

The cast and crew for the upcoming production of Martin Sherman's play "Bent," presented by the SUNY Potsdam Department of Theatre and Dance, has been announced. The all-student cast and crew is being advised by experienced faculty, and will present an untold story of the Nazi persecution of homosexuals during World War II. "Bent" will run from Oct. 24 to Oct. 27 in the Black Box Theater, located in the College's Satterlee Hall.
