Alexis Newman has received the Excellence in Management Award and is a Departmental Scholar this year, recognized by the Business Administration Department at SUNY Potsdam.

The Excellence in Accounting Award is presented by the Department of Business Administration at SUNY Potsdam.

Prabin Bhat has received the Excellence in Finance Award, the Annual Fund Award, and is a Departmental Scholar this year at the SUNY Potsdam Department of Business Administration.

The Excellence in Applied Learning Award is given by the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice to recognize a student who exhibits excellent performance and contribution to applied learning-based academia.

The Social Justice Minor Excellence Award is given to recognize a senior who exhibits excellent performance and contribution to the minor while exemplifying the spirit of the program.

The Human Services Minor Excellence Award is given to recognize a senior who exhibits excellent performance and contribution to the minor while exemplifying the spirit of the program.

The Criminal Justice Studies Minor Excellence Award is given to recognize a senior who exhibits excellent performance and contribution to the minor while exemplifying the spirit of the program.

The Criminal Justice Achievement Award recognizes the academic achievement of graduating criminal justice studies majors with the highest subject GPA who entered the college as a transfer student.

The Criminal Justice Excellence Award is presented to the senior criminal justice studies major with the highest grade point average in the major courses who entered SUNY Potsdam as a first-year student.

The Sociology Minor Excellence Award is given to recognize a senior who exhibits excellent performance and contribution to the minor while exemplifying the spirit of the program.

Criminal Justice Department Scholars are senior criminal justice studies majors with the highest grade point averages.

Each spring, the SUNY Potsdam Department of Sociology designates a student to receive the Joseph T. Hennessey Award. It recognizes the academic achievement of the senior sociology major(s) with the highest GPA in the major courses who entered SUNY Potsdam as a first-year student.

The Sociology Achievement Award recognizes the academic achievements of graduating seniors who entered SUNY Potsdam as transfer students and are now graduating with the highest grade point average in the sociology major.

Departmental Scholars are senior sociology majors with the highest grade point averages.

The Distinguished Service in Environmental Studies Award is given to recognize a major or minor who exhibits excellent performance, while exemplifying the spirit of the program.

The Environmental Studies Award is presented to one or more graduating environmental studies students who show the most promise for further study or application of environmental knowledge.

SUNY Potsdam's Department of Business Administration recently hosted its Business Plan and Product Prototype Competition, which challenges students to develop an entrepreneurial business plan fulfilling the need of a specific group of consumers. In the Fall 2020 semester, a team of four dedicated students took home the trophy.

Three outstanding SUNY Potsdam students were recently among those honored with the 2021 Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence.

This award was created by the Department of Politics to honor former Chair and Faculty member, Dr. David E. Brown, who co-created, along with Dr. Richard Del Guidice, Potsdam's Political Science program and helped to establish the Department of Political Science in 1971. It is presented to a student who has submitted an outstanding paper for Senior Seminar.

SUNY Potsdam student Michael Carlisle has been honored for his outstanding undergraduate work by being recognized with an academic award and a scholarship.

This award goes to a freshman or sophomore student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in an American history survey course during the preceding calendar year. It was established in honor of Dr. Robert L. Briggs, a valued member of the history faculty from 1961 to his retirement in 1985.

This award is for an outstanding performance by a student in public history. The award commemorates Dr. M. J. Heisey, a longtime member and former Chair of the Department of History, who dedicated her career to researching and teaching public history and oral history. She retired in 2019.

The SUNY Potsdam Department of History recently selected five outstanding students as the 2021 Departmental Scholars.

Windila Balbone has been recognized with three academic awards in honor of her outstanding achievements at SUNY Potsdam, including the International Studies Departmental Scholar Award, the International Studies Award, and the Dr. Philip Neisser Departmental Service Award.

This is an award to recognize an outstanding seminar paper written in HIST 480, and it commemorates the former chair of the Social Studies Department, who served from 1941 to 1964.

This award is for outstanding performance by a freshman or sophomore in a world history course during the preceding calendar year. The award honors Dr. John F. Schwaller, a colonial Latin American historian, who served as the college President from 2006 to 2013.

The Ilse J. Shaw History Award goes to the senior history major with the best scholarship and highest cumulative GPA in history courses during his or her undergraduate career.

The award is given to an outstanding graduating senior pre-law student in the SUNY Potsdam Department of Politics.

The John Massaro Politics Recognition Award is given to a student who displays a high a level of creativity, leadership, or charisma outside the classroom, above and beyond their coursework.

The Ilse J. Shaw History Award goes to the senior history major with the best scholarship and highest cumulative GPA in history courses during his or her undergraduate career.
