The Met: Live in HD to Bring 10 Operas & 2 Musicals to Potsdam's Roxy Theater, Through Partnership with The Crane School of Music

Potsdam, NY (10/01/2019) — From classic to contemporary, the 14th season of The Met: Live in HD will bring exciting productions from the Metropolitan Opera to the movie screen in Potsdam again this year.

The 2019-20 Live in HD season features 12 transmissions, offering a significant portion of the Met season to opera lovers around the world. For the first time, the series will also include two musical productions this year ("42nd Street" and "Kinky Boots"), broadcast in encore format from two of the hottest London West End stages.

Sponsored by SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music and J.S. Cinemas, the Met Live season will open on Saturday, Oct. 12, with Giacomo Puccini's "Turandot."

All performances will be screened at the Roxy Theater, in downtown Potsdam. Robotic cameras, strategically placed around and behind the stage, capture the beauty and power of live performance from striking angles, and heighten attention to both performance and production. Intermission features and English subtitles will once again bring the stories to life.

All productions will be shown live worldwide on Saturdays. There will also be encore presentations offered locally on Sundays.
