SUNY Potsdam Welcomes Back 'King of Sitcoms' Chuck Lorre for Free Public Discussion Sept. 23

Potsdam, NY (09/05/2024) — Legendary television producer Chuck Lorre '74 will sit down with SUNY Potsdam President Dr. Suzanne R. Smith to discuss his path from SUNY Potsdam to Hollywood in an upcoming talk.

The free public discussion will be offered on Monday, Sept. 23, from noon to 1 p.m., in the Proscenium Theater, located in SUNY Potsdam's Performing Arts Center.

Recognized as the "king of sitcoms," Lorre will share stories from his past and lessons learned, as well as insight to his creative process. Lorre is the recipient of an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the State University of New York, and this will be his first visit back to campus after speaking at SUNY Potsdam's 2009 Commencement ceremony.

Chuck Lorre created, co-created and executive produced: "The Big Bang Theory," "Young Sheldon," "Two and a Half Men," "Mike & Molly," "Mom," "The Kominsky Method," "Bookie," "Bob Hearts Abishola," "Cybill," "Dharma & Greg," "Grace Under Fire," "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" (premieres Fall 2024), and the theme song to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
