SUNY Potsdam to Host Sustainability Day and Green Living Fair

'Energy Futures': Tenth Annual Sustainability Day & Green Living Fair to be Held at SUNY Potsdam on Sept. 25

Potsdam, NY (09/08/2026) — The North Country Partnership for Environmental Action, Community and Sustainability (NoCoPEACS) is pleased to announce its tenth annual Sustainability Day and Green Living Fair, hosted by SUNY Potsdam.

The Green Living Fair will be held on Friday, Sept. 25 from 1 to 7:30 p.m., this time held on the SUNY Potsdam campus in the Barrington Student Union, at 44 Pierrepont Avenue. The event is free and open to the public, and focuses this year on "Energy Futures."

From 2 to 6 p.m., the Fair will feature multiple exhibitors, an EV car show with test drives available, informative workshops and educational poster displays. Local food trucks will be on hand for meals and snacks.

Keynote speaker

Following the Fair and EV car show, at 6:15 p.m., keynote speaker Dr. Stephen Bird will share a talk titled "Transition, Not Collision: Cautious Optimism in Energy," examining the critical linchpins and uncertainties that will drive changes across energy over future decades.

The overall event will showcase ideas, tools and services that community members, municipalities, educational institutions and local businesses can use when working together for a sustainable future.

Workshops for the public & preparedness agencies

Nearly a dozen workshops will take place over the course of the Sustainability Day, ranging on topics including Adirondack fire preparedness, battery energy storage systems, how the energy grid works, local farm producers, nuclear power, and ecovillages for cooperative resilience.

The Sustainability Day and Green Living Fair are coordinated each year by the North Country Partnership for Environmental Action, Community and Sustainability (NoCoPEACS), constituting over a dozen local schools, organizations and business sponsors, rotating their events at the area universities.
