SUNY Potsdam's 2019 Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series Continues

Acting Chief Information Officer Romeyn Prescott '92 to Open Spring 2019 Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series at SUNY Potsdam

Potsdam, NY (01/18/2019) — SUNY Potsdam Acting Chief Information Officer Romeyn Prescott '92 will open the Spring 2019 Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series, with a presentation at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Prescott will speak about academic computing and support, looking at how computing has evolved over the years at the College. Having served at SUNY Potsdam for more than 30 years, Prescott has been witness to, and now helps shape the ongoing development of, information technology on campus. Prescott will give a brief history of Computing and Technology Services, report on the current state of the office and talk about resources of support for those making use of technology as part of their curricula and research, both on-campus and off.

The Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar is sponsored by SUNY Potsdam's School of Education and Professional Studies. Since its inception 11 years ago, the School has hosted more than 115 presentations as part of the annual series.

All seminar meetings will be offered on Wednesdays in the Rebecca V. Sheard Literacy Center balcony, from noon to 1 p.m. These events are free, and the public is welcome to attend.

  • March 6: Marta Albert and Carolyn Stone, "'How Do They Do It?': Lessons from an Educational Travel Course in Finland and Sweden"
  • April 3: Bryan Herman, "Science and Culture on the Soviet Screen: Russian and Member Republic Biographical Films During the Early Cold War, 1946-1953"
  • April 24: Krista LaVack and Jim Pasquill, "Internationalizing the Faculty"
