SUNY Potsdam Presents "Wiley and the Hairy Man" from March 28 to 31

Dr. Jay Pecora Directs Classic Childhood Play by Suzan Zeder

Potsdam, NY (03/15/2019) — SUNY Potsdam's Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to present "Wiley and the Hairy Man" by Suzan Zeder. Three performances will be presented on Thursday, March 28 and Saturday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee on Sunday, March 31 at 2 p.m. at the Proscenium Theater, located inside the Performing Arts Center. As a bonus, families are welcome to stop by the Performing Arts Center lobby before the matinee on Sunday for a hands-on puppetry activity and a chance to meet the characters from the play.

Directed by Associate Professor Dr. Jay Pecora, chair of SUNY Potsdam's Department of Theatre and Dance, the one-hour play is set deep within the mysterious Tombigbee Swamp and tells a heroic tale of the young Wiley. With the help of his conjuring mother Mammy, and his faithful companion Dog, he sets out to face the figure in his nightmares, the Hairy Man. In a stirring duel of wits, Wiley learns to rely upon his own strengths in order to conquer his fears. Through rhythm and rhyme, a chorus creates the mystery of the swamp, and magic is the tool for survival.

Tickets are $15 for general admission; $10 for faculty/staff/students with ID; and youth under 10 are free. To purchase tickets, contact the Community Performance Series Box Office at (315) 267-2277 or www.cpspotsdam.org, or visit the box office, located in the PAC lobby.
