SUNY Potsdam Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series Continues with Virtual Format for 2021

2021 Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series Kicks Off at SUNY Potsdam with Wide-Ranging Array of Talks Planned

Potsdam, NY (01/25/2021) — SUNY Potsdam will continue its Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series with a virtual format again in 2021. The speaker series will cover topics across the disciplines, and is open to the public once again this year.

Sponsored by SUNY Potsdam's School of Education and Professional Studies, the annual series is celebrating 13 years and more than 130 presentations to date, now presented in an online format made necessary by COVID-19 safety measures. All seminars are on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m., and will be offered via Zoom.

The Spring 2021 Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series schedule is as follows:

  • Feb. 10: Blair F. Madore (Chair of Faculty Senate/Department of Mathematics), "Role of Shared Governance at SUNY Potsdam"
  • Feb. 24: Heather Sullivan-Catlin (Departments of Environmental Studies and Sociology and Criminal Justice), "Hope and Sustainability: Teachable Moments at Ecovillages"
  • March 17: Christopher M. Torres (Department of Public Health and Human Performance) and Tibisay Hernandez (Assistant Director of Diversity and Inclusion, University at Albany), "Changing Demographics in Academia"
  • March 31: James J. Donahue (Departments of English and Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies), "Decolonizing the American Literature Survey Course: Some Thoughts Toward a Native-Centered Pedagogy"
  • April 21: David L. Milligan and Arcadii Z. Grinshpan (University of South Florida Department of Mathematics), Sergei Abramovich (Department of Elementary Education), "Action Learning of Mathematics: The Case of Pandemic"
