SUNY Potsdam Announces New Cohort of Presidential Interns

SUNY Potsdam Presidential Internship Program to Fund Selective Paid Summer Internships at Local Businesses & Organizations

Potsdam, NY (06/02/2026) — SUNY Potsdam is pleased to announce the next cohort of students who will complete the College's Presidential Internship Program (PIP), a competitive paid internship program allowing students to gain professional experience while assisting select North Country employers.

PIP students receive full funding for their credit-bearing internships, including a stipend to support hourly wages and coverage of either 3 or 6 registered credits. Students are eligible to apply for a stipend to offset additional costs like housing and mileage as well. The program is free of cost for participating employers and organizations. Administered by the Lougheed Center for Applied Learning, the program also includes professional development sessions for all interns, led by staff and guest speakers from both the campus and the community.

The Summer 2026 cohort includes:

  • Mallory Allen, an English major from Cranberry Lake, N.Y., who will serve as a grant writing intern for Second Chance Scholars Inc.
  • Katelin Babbitt, an archaeological studies major from Waddington, N.Y., who will serve as a camp intern with Criminal Justice Camp at SUNY Potsdam.
  • Ellie Barbolt, an environmental science major from Glenville, N.Y., who will serve as a mosquito surveillance intern with the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department.
  • Katie Fowler, a visual arts major from East Setauket, N.Y., who will serve as a business and studio intern with the Third Wheel Pottery Studio.
  • Anais Hernandez, a psychology major from Brooklyn, N.Y., who will serve as a program intern with First Year Programs at SUNY Potsdam.
  • Jacob Knapp, an anthropology major from Buffalo, N.Y., who will serve as an assistant field instructor with the SUNY Potsdam Wilderness Education Program.
  • David Nesbitt, a music business and music performance major from Poughquag, N.Y., who will serve as a marketing and sales intern with the Orchestra of Northern New York.
  • Zephyrus Nolasco, a creative writing major from Phanat Nikhom, Thailand, who will serve as a marketing and public relations intern for Blueline Literary Magazine.
  • Davida Owusu-Achiaa, a business administration major from Potsdam, N.Y., who will serve as a business affairs intern at the SUNY Potsdam Division of Business Affairs.
  • Gabriela Padilla, an art education (Pre-K-12) major from Staten Island, N.Y., who will serve as a teen program support and exhibition coordinator for the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
  • Tucker Siddon, a biology major from Massena, N.Y., who will serve as a mosquito surveillance intern with the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department.
  • Sara Ward, a music education major from North Chili, N.Y., who will serve as an administrative intern with Crane Youth Music.
  • Taylor Wells, an environment and sustainability major from Burke, N.Y., who will serve as a sustainability intern with the SUNY Potsdam sustainability program.
