SUNY Potsdam Accepting Site Applications for Presidential Internship Program
Select Paid Internships Available to North Country Businesses and Organizations, Thanks to Second Year of SUNY Potsdam Presidential Internship Program
Potsdam, NY (09/25/2025) — SUNY Potsdam will continue the Presidential Internship Program (PIP) in Summer 2026, following a successful pilot in Summer 2025. Administered by the Lougheed Center for Applied Learning, this internship program connects student interns with North Country sites through a competitive process of applications, interviews and final matching between sites and students.
PIP students receive full funding for their credit-bearing internships, including a stipend to support hourly wages and coverage of either 3 or 6 registered credits. Students are eligible to apply for a stipend to offset additional costs like housing and mileage as well. There is no cost for approved internship sites to participate, and all North Country employers are welcome to apply!
Site applications open on Oct. 1, and close on Dec. 1, 2025. The application form for employers is available online here.
Student applications will open on Jan. 1 and close on March 1, 2026.
"We are pleased to announce the return of the PIP in Summer 2026. The first year of this program represented an exciting internship opportunity for the university and our local community. The second year of the PIP will build upon these partnerships by continuing to offer high-tier, immersive internships in the summertime," said Internship Coordinator Max Grube.
The application process for sites and students will remain the same in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. The biggest change will occur during the interview and matching process -- for this iteration of the PIP, student finalists will complete an interview with staff from the Lougheed Center for Applied Learning (LoCAL) before scheduling interviews with their top site matches. The cohort will also participate in more regular professional development sessions across the internship experience. PIP students will now complete workshops on professionalism topics with LoCAL staff and guest speakers from the campus and local community as part of their experience as well.
