North Country Novel Comes Full Circle, as Bestselling Author Tracey Lange Prepares for SUNY Potsdam Visit on Oct. 23

SUNY Potsdam to Host Visit by Tracey Lange, Returning to the Location of Her New Book, 'What Happened to the McCrays?' -- Potsdam, N.Y.

Potsdam, NY (10/06/2025) — SUNY Potsdam is excited to welcome New York Times bestselling author Tracey Lange for a special visit on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Barrington Student Union. Lange will give a free public talk and sign copies of her newest novel, "What Happened to the McCrays?," which is set in and around Potsdam, N.Y.

This marks Lange's first return to the area since the book's release, and she'll meet with students and community members, while visiting some of the local spots that inspired her story.

"What Happened to the McCrays?" is a poignant story about the resilience of family, the importance of community, and the magic of middle school hockey. Full of love and hope, the book takes an intimate look at both sides of a failed marriage and two people who must finally confront the pain of their past or risk being consumed by it.

Tracey Lange was born and raised in New York City before heading west to graduate from the University of New Mexico with a degree in psychology. After owning and operating a mental health services company with her husband for 15 years, she completed the Stanford University novel writing program while working on her first novel, the New York Times bestseller, "We Are the Brennans." Her second novel is titled "The Connellys of County Down." Lange currently lives in beautiful Bend, Oregon with her husband, two sons, and beloved German Shepherd.

Lange's Oct. 23 talk is free and open to the public, and a book signing with light refreshments will follow the event. Hardcover copies of the book will also be available for sale.

While walk-ins will be welcomed at the door, guests are asked to reserve tickets in advance to help the campus prepare for the expected audience size. "What Happened to the McCrays?" is available at the Potsdam Gear Shop, located in the Barrington Student Union, and at all national retailers. It is also available at local libraries (pending availability) and for digital download.
