Crane School of Music Faculty Highlighted in Upcoming Concerts

SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music Welcomes In-Person & Virtual Audiences for Upcoming Concerts & Recitals

Potsdam, NY (10/29/2021) — SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will feature its world-renowned faculty artists in a series of upcoming performances.

The Potsdam Brass Quintet will take the stage on Monday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater. The quintet will present a Bach arrangement, plus modern works by Libby Larsen, Eric Ewazen, David Evan Thomas, Anthony Barfield and Robert Washburn. The Potsdam Brass Quintet is the brass quintet-in-residence at The Crane School of Music and is comprised of Brianne Borden (trumpet), Buddy Deshler (trumpet), Lauren Becker (horn), Christopher Hernacki (trombone) and Charles Guy (tuba). Established in 1968, the group is one of America's oldest professional brass quintets.

Cellist Marie-Elaine Gagnon and pianist Young-Ah Tak invite the public to join for a well anticipated evening of chamber music on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. in Snell Theater. They will share one of the most iconic works for cello and piano: the Brahms cello sonata in E-minor, as well as works from the last compositional period of Ludwig van Beethoven.

Christopher Hotaling, euphonium, will perform a recital titled "Passion & Calm" alongside pianist Julie Miller on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m., also in Snell Theater. The performance will include works by Alec Wilder, Lili Boulanger, H. Leslie Adams, Ethan Cypress, and more.

Crane is thrilled to safely welcome back audiences for performances once again this year. Audience members will be required to wear face coverings, and seating will be socially distanced.
