Community Performance Series Announces Audition Calls for Summer Musical

Auditions to be Held March 29 and 30 for Summer Community Performance Series Musical Production of 'Something Rotten!'

Potsdam, NY (03/17/2025) — Community Performance Series is pleased to announce the upcoming auditions for its 2025 summer musical, "Something Rotten!"

CPS is seeking cast members ages 16 and up, for principal and ensemble roles for the musical production.

Auditions will be held Saturday and Sunday, March 29 and 30, in the Joy Rehearsal Room (C119) at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music.

Those auditioning are asked to prepare no more than 32 bars of a song from the show songbook, and to review dialogue selections that they will be asked to read from. A link to the songbook and audition excerpts are available on the Community Performance Series website. Attendees should also wear appropriate clothes and shoes to move in, as those who attend will be taught dance steps and asked to perform them.

Those unavailable to attend the in-person audition dates should email cps@potsdam.edu to inquire about the video audition option.

"Something Rotten!" is a hit Broadway musical comedy that follows two brothers who struggle to find success in the theatrical world as they compete with the wild popularity of William Shakespeare. It was nominated for 10 Tony Awards.

"Something Rotten!" will run from July 9 to 13, in the Proscenium Theater, located in SUNY Potsdam's Performing Arts Center. Information on rehearsal schedules and performances are also available online, and those auditioning should bring a list of any time conflicts that they may have.

In addition to casting the show, CPS is also seeking volunteers to assist as members of the backstage crew and front of house staff.
