SUNY Potsdam Student Anthony Horton Completes 'Living the Map' Internship Program

2014 Oct 31

Four SUNY Potsdam students completed the first-ever "Living the Map" internship program, which gave them the chance to intern with five organizations in five weeks in five locations this summer.

Developed by Daniel Seddiqui, the author of "Fifty Jobs in Fifty States: One Man's Journey of Discovery Across America," the program allowed the four lucky SUNY Potsdam students to test the waters in five different work places based on their career interests.

The successful SUNY Potsdam interns included Anthony Horton of Latham, NY, whose major is Criminal Justice. Horton interned with the El Paso Sheriff's Department, Wyoming State Park Law Enforcement, the Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center, the Bernalillo District Attorney's Office and the Harris County Sherrif's Department, in Colorado Springs, CO; Cheyenne, WY; Guernsey, WY; Aluquerque, NM, and Houston, TX, respectively.

SUNY Potsdam's internship program places students with employers whose interests align with their studies. Each student has a faculty sponsor, and earns credits toward their degree requirements for successfully completing the internship.

The SUNY Potsdam Experiential Education Office is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. For more information, visit http://www.potsdam.edu/support/ssc/eeo/internships.
