SUNY Potsdam Dance Student Samantha DiPietro Featured in Student Choreographer Concert

2013 Nov 26

The Department of Theatre and Dance at SUNY Potsdam will present performances of original dance works by student choreographers from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8 on campus. Fourteen SUNY Potsdam students who are majoring or minoring in dance have created 20 dance works for the concert, which is entitled "Kaleidoscopic."

The student performers and choreographers include Samantha DiPietro of New Hartford, NY.

The pieces run from the technically challenging to the thematically intriguing, from the highly kinetic to abstractly sculptural, and from laugh-out-loud comedic to highly dramatic. Stylistically, everything from jazz to ballet and contemporary to tap dance is represented.

Performances of Concert A will be presented on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m., and Concert B will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. All performances will be offered in the Dunn Hall Dance Theater. Doors will open 30 minutes before each performance. Tickets are free for SUNY Potsdam students with ID and $5 for general admission. Tickets will be available at the door one hour before each performance. For more information, please call the Department of Theatre and Dance at (315) 267-2556.
