SUNY Potsdam Awards Scholarship Support to Emma Williams for 2017-18 Academic Year

The State University of New York at Potsdam has awarded scholarships, grants and awards to 1,071 students for the 2017-18 academic year. These accomplished SUNY Potsdam undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for their achievements with support for their educational experience.

The scholarship recipients included Emma Williams of Sugar Hill, NH, whose major is Archaeological Studies. Williams received the Thomas and Elizabeth Omohundro Anthropology Scholarship, Scott Powell Memorial Scholarship and the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.

The Student Loan Report recently ranked SUNY Potsdam No. 5 in the nation in its list of the top 250 public colleges that offer upperclassmen the most financial aid. SUNY Potsdam was also ranked No. 43 for the best financial aid offers for first-year students as well, giving the College the highest rating for any institution within the State University of New York. The ranking is based on the 2015 Peterson's Financial Aid Data Set.

In 2015-16, SUNY Potsdam awarded $3.1 million worth of scholarships to 1,512 students. Of that total, almost half was supported by philanthropic giving, through scholarships provided and/or endowed by the Potsdam College Foundation Inc., a non-profit corporation that stewards private giving in support of SUNY Potsdam.
