SUNY Potsdam's WISER Center Hosts Honey Harvest Hoedown and Pollinator Jamboree
Local Living Venture Offers Third Honey Harvest Hoedown and Pollinator Jamboree at SUNY Potsdam's WISER Greenhouse on Sept. 28
Potsdam, NY (09/12/2019) — The third annual Honey Harvest Hoedown and Pollinator Jamboree, a public celebration of bees and other pollinators, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 3 to 5 p.m., in the Wagner Institute for Sustainability and Ecological Research Greenhouse, located in Stowell Hall on the SUNY Potsdam campus.
The Honey Harvest Hoedown and Pollinator Jamboree celebrates the birds, bees, bats, beetles, butterflies and moths that help provide our food and enrich the natural world. The jamboree is coordinated and sponsored by the WISER Center at SUNY Potsdam, the Local Living Venture and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe's Environmental Division.
This free family-friendly event will include demonstrations, unique honey treats, pollinator habitat workshops, films and live bluegrass music by the Northern Southern Old Time Society Band. Guests can even harvest and eat comb honey.
A free tour of the pollinator gardens and apiaries at Cecilie Garden, located in SUNY Potsdam's Lehman Park, will follow the jamboree, from 5 to 6 p.m. Shuttle transportation will be provided.
This event is free of charge, child-friendly, and open to the public, although donations are welcomed to benefit the Local Living Venture's Pollinator Protection programming. To learn more about the program, visit http://locallivingventure.org/content/pollinator.
