SUNY Potsdam Invites Students and Alumni to Volunteer for the College's Days of Service

Calling All Potsdam Bears: SUNY Potsdam Community Unites Through Volunteerism, with Days of Service on Nov. 3 and 4

Potsdam, NY (10/16/2018) — SUNY Potsdam will bring together alumni, students, faculty, staff and parents for the College's second annual Days of Service project -- uniting campus community members through volunteerism and Potsdam Pride.

The second annual SUNY Potsdam Days of Service event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 4. New this year is the option of both weekend days, to give participants more scheduling flexibility. Volunteers are welcome to pitch in for a few hours on one of those days.

Last year, hundreds of students showed their Potsdam Pride and participated in service-based projects in the North Country, while alumni across the state and beyond pitched in to help local organizations and causes in their areas.

SUNY Potsdam students raked leaves at local parks, cleaned kennels at the Potsdam Humane Society, sorted clothes at the Salvation Army in Massena, and provided help to many other community organizations.

The SUNY Potsdam Days of Service engage volunteers across New York State and wherever alumni live, to complete a variety of community service projects and share their pride in their alma mater.

All campus community members are welcome to participate in the SUNY Potsdam Days of Service on Saturday or Sunday, Nov. 3 or 4. To take part, visit http://www.potsdam.edu/dayofservice, and register to join a project in your area -- or coordinate a project for a favorite cause in your own town.

You can even join in by completing individual projects like helping a needy neighbor on Nov. 3 or 4. Just register to make sure that your efforts are counted.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear their SUNY Potsdam Bears gear on site and to post photos of their project on social media, using the hashtag #PotsdamProud.
