SUNY Potsdam's Gibson Gallery Hosts 'Art Attack' Exhibition & BFA Show, Highlighting New Works by Student Artists

Potsdam, NY (04/27/2026) — SUNY Potsdam's Gibson Gallery is set to display a range of works by talented students, with the upcoming "Art Attack" show and Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibition, taking place simultaneously as part of the LoKo Arts spring events series.

Both shows will be on display in the Gibson Gallery from April 27 through May 15. The gallery will be open Monday through Friday, from 1 to 4 p.m.

A free opening reception will be held on Friday, May 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Gibson Gallery in Brainerd Hall.

Art Attack is the juried student art exhibit open to all SUNY Potsdam students. This year, the juror was Matthew Shanley, who selected 75 works from more than 130 submissions.

The BFA Show highlights works by graduating seniors in the rigorous Bachelor of Fine Arts program in visual arts. This year's show will feature Cici Waugh '26, presenting her series of prints alongside the Art Attack pieces.

The exhibition also provided an applied learning opportunity for SUNY Potsdam students. Four interns worked on the exhibit, including Katelin Babbitt, Raistlin Brisson, Marcus Bueno and Arcane Hallow. They were assisted by student volunteers Sharonmarie Bartz and Nick Soles.

SUNY Potsdam's Department of Art offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs in art education, studio art, visual arts, and graphic design and new media. Graduates have gone on to pursue professions in the fine arts, art administration, art therapy, digital design, K-12 and university teaching, museum curation, audio/visual administration, publishing, gallery ownership, interior design, architecture, commercial printing, pattern making, photojournalism, studio ceramics and more.
